Can I trade forex, stocks, or options?
No. Futures only (see "Permitted Products" for a complete list). Note that all the major currency pairs have futures contracts you can trade.
Can I use an algo or automated strategy in an Evaluation or the Live Desk?
Yes, if you own/manage the code. On the Live Desk, we may request access for risk review purposes.
Can I pause my Evaluation?
No.
Is there an activation fee of some sort?
No.
Are there monthly fees during the Evaluation?
No. It's a one time fee.
Can I reset a TEP account?
Yes. There's a reset button on the main dashboard page on the right side of every account. The reset fee is exactly the same as starting a new account. One-time cost.
How many Accounts can I have at once?
- •Evaluation: up to 5
- •Live Desk: 2. (1 Intraday, 1 Swing)
Can I add more TEP accounts after I've made it onto the Live Desk?
Generally yes, but the firm reserves the right to deny this if we feel it's hurting your Live Account performance. That's where we want your focus to be, and we will naturally scale you up there - you don't have to do more evals to earn more risk if you are trading well.
Can I trade around news releases?
Yes. But….we recommend not being irresponsible though! Unless trading big news releases is a designed part of your strategy, holding or "YOLOing" into a news release is irresponsible and entirely unsustainable as a trader.
Can I hold overnight?
Yes, swing trading is allowed. You'll need a designated Swing Account for this.
How does max size / margin work for accounts?
Just like a real futures trading account. The exchange sets margin requirements (how much money one must have in order to trade 1 contract of a certain product). Swing Accounts with Apteros will simply require 100% of exchange set margin requirements. Our Intraday Accounts will require only 60% of exchange margin in order to trade.
Can I be in the old Tryout and the new TEP at the same time?
No, this is not allowed. Legacy Tryout users are more than welcome to stay in that program as long as they have an active subscription. They're also welcome to transition over to the new TEP if and when they would like to, but would trigger a cancellation of their existing Tryout account.
